It’s where students, faculty and staff thrive in a supportive community committed to Jesuit, Catholic values and traditions. Here, students learn to become leaders through service to others.

Our Students

They are committed to academic excellence; in fact, the academic profile of our incoming freshmen represents one of the strongest among all U.S. Catholic universities. Creighton students value faith, leadership and service, and they find opportunities to grow in these areas at Creighton. Through internships, research and clinical experience, they learn by doing.

Our Faculty

Faculty members embody the Creighton missionand values by showing care and respect for each student. In the classroom, they integrate critical and creative thinking with active approaches to learning. They equip students with ethical perspectives to help navigate our complex world. As experts in their fields, faculty members conduct research that advances new knowledge. They help prepare students to live great lives by modeling a lifelong commitment to community, inquiry, justice, reflection and service.

Several Fortune 500 companies call Omaha home, providing opportunities for quality internships for students and jobs for graduates. Creighton University is a committed partner with many organizations and neighbors in our beloved community.

Our Tradition

Founded in 1878, Creighton is one of 28 Jesuit colleges and universities in the United States. The Society of Jesus—the world’s largest Catholic religious order of priests and brothers—was founded in the mid-1500s by St. Ignatius of Loyola. Jesuits, as members of the Society of Jesus, continue the Ignatian tradition by advancing education worldwide.

Many Jesuits live and work on the Creighton campus as professors, administrators, coaches and students. Even the University president is a Jesuit.

Our Spirit

Creighton’s mascot has been the bluejay since 1924, and we’ve been part of the BIG EAST conference since 2013. Fans far and wide cheer proudly for Bluejay athletics, including basketball, baseball, cross-country, golf, rowing, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball teams. Our student-athletes excel on the field, the court, the classroom and in community outreach.
